The heat exchange area or flow combination is easy to change. If you want to increase or reduce the heat exchange area of the plate heat exchanger, you only need to increase or reduce the plate; If you want to change the process combination, you only need to change the plate arrangement or select to replace several plates.
As we all know, plate heat exchanger is a kind of heat exchanger which is made by pressing thin metal plates (generally stainless steel) into heat exchange plates with a certain shape (corrugated) and then laminating them with densified sealing pads,. The plate heat exchanger is mainly composed of heat transfer plate, clamping bolt, complete frame clamping plate, sealant pad and other components.
The advantages of plate heat exchanger are as follows.
(1) High heat transfer coefficient. As we all know, plate heat exchanger is composed of plates which are inverted and assembled with each other, and the complex flow channel formed by the corrugated shape of plates can make the heat exchange medium produce strong turbulence, so its heat transfer coefficient will be high.
(2) The structure is relatively compact and the floor area is small.
(3) The logarithmic average temperature difference of plate heat exchanger is large, and the temperature difference at the end is small. Generally speaking, the flow mode of plate heat exchanger is mostly downstream or countercurrent, and its logarithmic mean temperature difference correction coefficient is about 0.95, so the logarithmic mean temperature difference of plate heat exchanger is large and the terminal temperature difference is small.
(4) The heat exchange area or flow combination is easy to change. If you want to increase or reduce the heat exchange area of the plate heat exchanger, you only need to increase or reduce the plate; If you want to change the process combination, you only need to change the plate arrangement or select to replace several plates.
(5) Low cost. The plate of plate heat exchanger is mainly metal plate, so its raw material price will be lower than that of metal pipe.
(6) It is not easy to scale. The fluid in the plate heat exchanger has a large disturbance in the flow channel, so the dirt is not easy to deposit.
(7) Easy to disassemble and clean. Generally, the movable end plate can be moved after loosening the clamping bolts, so that the plate can be directly removed for cleaning.
The disadvantages of plate heat exchangers are mainly as follows.
(1) The gap between the heat transfer surfaces of the plate heat exchanger will be relatively small, and the heat transfer surface will be concave and convex, so the pressure loss of the plate heat exchanger is large.
(2) As the sealing gasket is used for the sealing of plate heat exchanger, the working pressure of plate heat exchanger should not exceed 2MPa in general.
(3) The flow channel of plate heat exchanger is small, so it is not suitable for gas-gas heat exchange.
